The problem

Although the network is online, I (MennoJob G.) cannot give any guarantees about uptime. The previous upstream, DataPacket, initially stopped our BGP session due to a new policy. This new policy became active earlier than announced which left me with a surprise. Because of this the entire Atrioxhosting network went offline.

In the meantime I have established a new BGP session with ServPerso which makes most Atrioxhosting services at least available again. However this is a temporary solution. Through ServPerso it costs me about ~€10,- per month to keep it online and you get what you pay for. This upstream also does not provide Anti DDoS which is a risk. Still for now it cannot be helped.

Finding a DDoS-protected upstream is incredibly difficult, and on top of that incredibly expensive. At this moment there are still 2 possible options I am looking into. These are "CosmicGaurd" and "Global Secure Layer", of which the first costs $600/Gbps, and the second $750/Gbps.

The current preference is "Global Secure Layer" because of their proven network where they easily drop 3 billion packets per second (4th largest DDoS so far), and a TTM (Time To Mitgrate) of 50-200ms. Unfortunately, Global Secure Layer is currently dealing with a software bug in Arista's routers, which means they cannot provide the product for the time being. I am in contact with the sales-director and waiting until the issue is resolved. There is no known time (ETA).

The solution

Protection has been chosen through the GlobalSecureLayer network. Although this costs $750 USD per month, I am convinced this is the best choice. However, this is not something that can be implemented within just a few days. For this, I am coordinating with both GlobalSecureLayer and the Skylink Datacenter.

Why does this take so long? This is because agreements must be made regarding Layer 2 transport, where we bypass GRE. This improves stability and speed, and reduces costs in the long term. However, that is not the only reason it takes some time. Other arrangements also need to be finalized, which means deployment cannot begin before April 1, 2026, also known as Q2 2026.

Until April 1, 2026, or Q2 2026, the network will continue to operate without Anti DDoS protection via ServPerso. But because I don’t want anyone to pay for something that does not fully live up to its promise, I am offering a 75% discount from the heart until all DDoS protection is fully resolved.
